Celtic fans in meltdown over Rangers boss after Scottish Cup Final

St Johnstone have won the cup double after securing the Scottish Cup with a 1-0 Final win over Hibs – but once again Rangers have been dragged into the discussion by salty rival Celtic fans.

The Perthshire Saints were deserved winners of the Scottish Cup as Shaun Rooney’s goal drew the curtain on the Scottish footballing season at Hampden.

But for some fans – mostly those of the green and white persuasion – the fact that Davidson delivered the trophy is evidence of two things.

Firstly, that St Johnstone – who’ve never won a league title – are somehow more successful than Champions League-chasing Rangers this season.

I’m sure Celtic fans would’ve have been happy with both cups whilst Rangers won the league had you asked them back in August.

Secondly, manager Callum Davidson has somehow been robbed of the Manager of the Year award by Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.

Yeah, that’s right, guiding Rangers to 55 via an unbeaten season, conceding only 13 goals and breaking the clean sheet record in the process is akin to robbing the Manager of the Year award against a cup double.

Not to mention the fact Gerrard secured Rangers’ first title in a decade by stopping the apparently unstoppable 10IAR. Cry more.

Some of it is clearly designed to goad Rangers fans – and we’d urge you to treat examples such as this with the contempt they deserve – but some are being genuinely serious.

Yes, there’s definitely a case for Davidson but the case for Gerrard is stronger and it’d be much easier to take you seriously if you didn’t have a four-leaf clover in your display picture, Mr Kennedy.

Here’s a selection of the saltiest tweets regarding Rangers boss Steven Gerrard receiving manager of the year over Davidson – ragin’ Celtic fans, reveal yourselves!:

Those tears are so, so, so, very delicious and even more so given the fact there will be no green and white on any cups this season.

Congratulations to St Johnstone – Scottish double winners with a pretty good manager at the helm. He’s just not as good as ours – and the powers that be clearly agree.

Speaking of the Rangers boss – here’s a video of him singing Simply the Best as the 55 celebrations continue one week on from Trophy Day.
