Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has reiterated that striker Alfredo Morelos will not be sold in this transfer window.
The Ibrox boss was talking ahead of the club’s trip to Hearts this weekend and was blunt with reporters who sought comment on reported interest from Sevilla [Sky Sports].
Gerrard calmly but with authority swotted away any conversation on the subject and repeated Rangers’ stance on their 28-goal forward.
“He’s not for sale. Nothing has changed on that,” said Gerrard.
“But when I see you again in two or three days we’ll speak about a different club so it’s just one of those things.”
Rangers have consistently reiterated that their star player will not be sold in this window, with Dave King even saying the Ibrox side would resist a £40m for the forward [Scottish Sun].
Heading into the business end of the season Rangers will be determined to keep a hold of all of their best players, Alfredo included.
Giving a transfer update on the entire squad, Gerrard said there are no updates concerning ins or outs at the club.
“In terms of being close to ins or outs I’d say no,” said Gerrard.
“I know there’s a lot of speculation about some of our players at the moment but we’ve had no bids.
“We’ve had phone calls and this and that from all kinds of different agents but there’s nothing from me to report on in terms of ins and outs.”
The news may come as a source of frustration for some fans after a leading Scottish journalist suggested the club are working on one major target this transfer window [Superscoreboard].
