A leading Scottish Sports journalist has claimed that Rangers are working on making a solitary signing in the January transfer window.
Mark Guidi, the chief football writer with the Daily Record, made the claim whilst talking on Clyde Superscoreboard [22/01/20 approx. 60mins in].
Guidi claims that whilst he’s unsure who the target is, and whether or not it will be a loan deal or permanent move, he’s convinced the Ibrox club are working away on something in the background.

“One thing about Steven Gerrard and the Rangers board, they don’t have the luxury that Celtic have had in terms of their finances,” said Guidi.
“I think they’ve kind of thrown almost every penny they can at it during the summer, to build a strong squad.
“If he had to try and do something and spend a few quid they’d need to sell somebody to raise the funds.
“But I’m told that there’s one player that they have in mind that they’re trying to get over the line between now and the closure of the window.
“Whether that’s a centre forward, a centre half, a right-back, a centre-mid, I’ve no idea.
“But I’m told there’s one target that they have in mind and they’re working hard to try and get it.
“Might be a loan, might be permanent, I don’t know, but there’s one guy.”
Guidi’s comments appear to back up earlier claims from Rangers manager Steven Gerrard who suggested a few weeks ago one player may join the club.
However, after Gerrard later suggested there would be no incomings into Rangers, fans would’ve expected little movement in this regard before the window closes on the 31st.

As Ross Wilson has repeatedly reiterated, this window is about moving players on [Glasgow Times].
But for many, Rangers need an injection of fresh enthusiasm and competition this window after stuttering performances against Stranraer and St. Mirren.
Could the individual referred to here by journalist Mark Guidi be the man Rangers need to reignite their fine form from before the break?
