The Rangers B team have arrived at a stunning European venue ahead of a big UEFA Youth League test against Hammarby IF on Wednesday night.

The Rangers B & Academy Twitter account shared a photo from inside the Tele2 Arena on Tuesday evening, presumably ahead of a training session under the lights.

The roof of the stunning 30,000 capacity venue – used by the senior teams of Hammarby and Djurgardens IF – was closed, but it’s unclear whether or not that will be the case for the match itself.

One key challenge for the Young Gers will be the artificial surface.

They played Hammarby off the park on the grass at Dumbarton in the first leg in September, but it would be naive to think the tie is over despite their 3-0 lead.

The Swedish youth champions have a brilliant home record and are physically much bigger than Rangers all over the pitch, so it will be a big challenge for the visitors to hold onto their advantage.

Some of the higher-profile B team players like Charlie McCann and Juan Alegria are ineligible but a travel video posted earlier on Tuesday showed that the likes of Ross McCausland, Alex Lowry and Tony Weston – all of whom wreaked havoc in the first leg – have made the trip.

If the Young Gers progress to the second round, they will face Bulgarian side Septemvri Sofia, who have already triumphed 4-1 on aggregate over Akademia e Futbollit of Albania in their first round tie.

In other news, Rangers are reportedly close to sealing a deal for a 26-year-old player despite facing competition from a number of other clubs.
