Gary McAllister has provided his choice for Rangers Player of the Year [Glasgow Times].
It’s a contentious topic for supporters given how many players have been instrumental to the Gers’ outstanding season.

However, although he acknowledges that there are several viable candidates, the assistant manager believes one star is more deserving than the rest.
James Tavernier.
“The two lads that have just signed new contracts – Allan McGregor and Steven Davis – have been outstanding,” said McAllister [Glasgow Times]. “Tavernier and Connor Goldson, Ryan Kent [would also be there]. Alfredo Morelos has probably not had the season he’s had in the past but in the last six to eight weeks of the league games, he really came to the fore.”
“But if you were pushing me, I am not going to sit on the fence here, I’d probably go Tav. He’s played a real captain’s part.”

It would be harsh on vice-captain Connor Goldson if he was overlooked, despite being on track to play every minute of Rangers’ season.
However, while Tavernier has been out injured since mid-February, he would certainly be a worthy winner.
The 29-year-old has led by example all season, helping to keep a plethora of clean sheets from right-back whilst also racking up incredible numbers at the top end of the pitch.
Despite not yet finding the net in 2021, he has 17 goals and 15 assists from 41 appearances, with his form in November and December particularly sensational.
Meanwhile, a comment from the Rangers SLO on Twitter suggests a controversial pundit has been denied access to Ibrox for the Gers’ Scottish Cup clash against Cove Rangers.
