A comment made by Rangers Supporters Liason Officer, Greg Marshall, on Twitter, suggests that controversial pundit Michael Stewart has been denied access to Ibrox for Sunday’s Scottish Cup Third Round fixture against Cove Rangers.

Gers supporters have criticised Stewart, who regularly appears on BBC TV and Radio shows, for his takes on a variety of issues across recent seasons.

In early 2020, he was briefly taken off air following comments about Alfredo Morelos and former Rangers PR chief Jim Traynor, which prompted an apology from the BBC [Scottish Sun].

More recently, Stewart expressed doubts over racism allegations made by Rangers player, Glen Kamara.

His on-air comments were labelled a ‘disgrace’ by Rangers shareholders Club 1872, who called for him to be sacked by the BBC, as over 1000 complaints were lodged by listeners [Herald].

In addition to his work with the BBC, Stewart often appears as a pundit for Premier Sports’ coverage of the Scottish Cup.

However, it seems that although the Premier Sports team will be at Ibrox on Sunday evening as the Gers take on Cove, Stewart will not be involved in the broadcast.

On Saturday night, in response to a supporter query regarding whether or not Stewart would be at the game, the Rangers SLO wrote: “No, absolutely not!”

It’s up to Rangers who they grant media access to on matchdays and it appears that Stewart’s comments have come back to bite him.

The news went down extremely well with supporters, many of whom applauded the apparent action taken by the Gers.

Meanwhile, a Rangers Academy starlet has signed a new deal with the club following impressive performances whilst out on loan.
