This summer Rangers were always going to need a rebuild both on and off the pitch with James Bisgrove’s promotion leading to Karim Virani now being appointed as chief commercial officer.
The Gers CEO arrived from UEFA with an impressive CV but his replacement appears to be equally as impressive.
John Bennett’s determination to secure “best in class” across Rangers looks on track with Karim Virani as the latest elite level arrival, as reported on the club’s official website.

With time spent at West Ham United in the same role, Virani is a proven operator at the highest level, not only that, but a CV featuring EE, Betfair and Sky is an impressive one.
As part of Socios, Virani has engaged with European super powers including Manchester City, Paris St-Germain, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Arsenal and Juventus, as well as working closely with UEFA too.
He is an executive with his finger on the pulse right at the heart of European football.
What will Rangers get from Karim Virani appointment
Speaking on the announcement of Rangers new chief commercial officer, James Bisgrove said:
‘’Rangers have enjoyed commercial growth from £8m in 2018 to £29m in 2022, during a transformational period in our commercial activities and, with thanks to the incredible backing of Rangers supporters, and our club partners.
“Karim has the drive, experience and global network to accelerate the next phase of our growth strategy, and we look forward to welcoming him to Ibrox in August.
“Karim will inherit and lead a hugely talented and committed team across our Commercial, Digital and Marketing functions. I’m confident his modern leadership and vision will be invaluable to all our people at Ibrox.”

Bisgrove just doesn’t seem like the type of CEO who will be happy with ticking along.
His grand plans need the best indivduals and, coming from that background himself, clearly knows how Virani operates.
Being less dependent on European money is key to self-sufficiency and the growth seen under Bisgrove has been remarkable.
A 350% increase in commercial growth is some achievement but a £21m rise in revenue is just the start.
Virani’s task is to take it to the next level.
Speaking to the club’s media team, the former West Ham CCO said:
“I am honoured to join this new Rangers executive team and support the delivery of James Bisgrove and the Rangers board’s exciting vision for the club.
“I am committed to leading a department that strives to deliver that vision for our supporters, whilst upholding the values of this historic and globally renowned club.
“I believe that Rangers has the potential to be one of the leading clubs in the world. I am confident that, together with the backing our supporters and club partners, we can achieve great things.”
With Zeb Jacobs being appointed to the academy director role, Dr Mark Waller returning to head up the medical and performance department, getting a new commercial chief in will be key in maintaining the momentum Bisgrove created. Rangers naming Karim Virani to replace
