Rangers have announced an “exciting” multi-year partnership with Bitci Technology which will have an “immediate” financial impact, according to the club’s Director of Commercial and Marketing, James Bisgrove [Rangers.co.uk].

The announcement was made on Wednesday morning and Bitci.com will appear on the Gers’ shorts until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The new partner’s logo will also be shown at Ibrox and on the club’s website.

Bitci Technology is now Rangers’ ‘Official Fan Token Partner’, a move which mirrors steps recently taken by giants of European football such as Juventus, PSG and AC Milan.

“This partnership represents a compelling and exciting new collaboration for Rangers,” said Bisgrove [Rangers.co.uk]. “It will have an immediate and positive impact on the continued growth of commercial revenues.”

“We have been inspired by the vision of Mr Çagdaş Çağlar (Founder and Chairman) and the ambition of Bitci Technology, at a time when the global value of cryptocurrency has reached a record high.

“We’ve carefully observed several high-profile European clubs that have carved out valuable opportunities in this space and firmly believe, with Bitci Technology as partners, the potential for Rangers and our supporters is significant.”

Çaglar also expressed his delight at the agreement, referring to it as a “significant project” which will “considerably increase the commercial income of Rangers”, before asserting that the decision to enter into this field now would provide the club with a “great advantage in the future.”

James Bisgrove has brokered many new partnerships since his arrival at Ibrox. A quick glance at the bottom of any given page on Rangers’ website gives an idea of the impressive number of ongoing collaborations.

The club have entered agreements with established brands from various fields such as Molton Brown and Titleist, while deals have also been struck with businesses most supporters would never previously have heard of.

Swiss energy drink brand Eighty One are one such example and Bitci Technology fit into the same bracket.

However, while some supporters won’t be happy with the increasing number of sponsors being squeezed onto Rangers’ kit, it sounds as though this deal could be a real money-spinner for the club and particularly amid the financial uncertainty caused by the pandemic, a sizeable cash injection can only be a positive thing.

Rangers have already secured millions of pounds of prize money from their Europa League campaign this season, too, but here’s why they won’t earn a cash reward from UEFA even if they defeat Royal Antwerp in Belgium on Thursday night.
