Rangers have announced that Craig Mulholland is now set to leave his role as Academy Director at the end of the season.
An official statement from Rangers confirms that it is the 45-year-old himself who has chosen to leave Ibrox this summer, rather than a decision taken by those above him to hand out a P45.
The news about Mulholland comes at an interesting time – to say the least.
Craig Mulholland could head to Nottingham Forest
Well, Ross Wilson also recently left Rangers too, giving up his Director of Football role at Ibrox in April to become Chief Football Officer at Nottingham Forest.
At the time, a story from Football Insider claimed that Wilson wanted to bring Mulholland with him to the City Ground.

There has been no talk of Mulholland’s decision to leave Rangers having anything to do with a move to Nottingham Forest being imminent or anything.
However, it would certainly be safe to assume that something is in the works between the Academy Director and Wilson, as he has now taken the decision to leave Rangers.
It signals another change at Ibrox in what has been a chaotic end to the season at boardroom level.
Douglas Park also quit his role as Chairman at Rangers in recent weeks with John Bennett taking his place.
With a number of player contracts expiring this summer too – such as Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent – it is a significant summer for Rangers as the Gers attempt to bridge the gap on Celtic.
It will be very tough to oversee an effective transitional period without a Director of Football in place of Wilson, so that should arguably be Bennett’s priority as planning begins ahead of the transfer window.
Hopefully, everything goes smoothly in Bennett’s first summer as Chairman of Rangers, as there is a lot of work to be done.
