Andy Halliday believes Rangers will go through a major overhaul this summer, predicting up to 10 signings arriving at Ibrox.
Former Gers ace Halliday has been speaking to Open Goal this week and obviously spoke about his boyhood club.
Halliday watched on as Rangers lost 2-1 to Celtic in the Viaplay Cup final on Sunday.
That defeat has sparked major debate amongst Rangers fans over whether a major rebuild is needed this summer.
Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller suggested earlier this week that the Gers need a ‘refresh’ and not a rebuild.
Halliday seemingly doesn’t agree and is predicting a host of signings to arrive at Ibrox this summer.
Halliday stated (29min) that he genuinely thinks we could see nine or ten players arrive at Rangers as Michael Beale considers a revolution.
“I think in the summer, genuinely, Rangers will sign nine or 10 players,” said Halliday as he predicted that a similar number of players could be leaving.
Rangers face a big summer
A number of contracts will be expiring this summer.
Allan McGregor, Filip Helander, Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are all out of contract at the end of the season.
We could see a situation where all of them leave the club on free transfers and leave major holes in the squad.
In truth, this may not be a bad thing; Rangers need a rebuild under Beale and getting rid of some of the ‘old guard’ may be a wise idea.
There could also be questions over the futures of John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz, Glen Kamara, Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe.
That leaves Rangers with a big job to do over the summer and a number of positions must be strengthened.
A new goalkeeper is surely a top priority whilst more new energy needs to be added in midfield alongside January signing Nicolas Raskin.
Wingers and strikers have to be a key focus too, with Halliday’s prediction possibly not too far off.
