Rangers target Luis Palma is ‘the best shooter’ in the Greek Super League with one former Aris coach hoping to see the Honduras international stay in his current surroundings.
Aris, Soulis Papadopoulos argues, must use the summer to make a statement. That is, if they are serious about ending a decade-long trophy drought, and closing the gap between themselves and the likes of PAOK, Panathinaikos and Olympiakos at the top of the table.
Keeping Palma, amid interest from clubs in Belgium, Germany, France, America, Brazil and Scotland, would be exactly that. A statement of intent.

It is also easier said than done. According to Greek publication SDNA, Rangers are now ‘very likely’ to step up their pursuit of a £4.5 million-rated winger who, if he was to arrive at Ibrox, could become their most expensive acquisition since Kemar Roofe arrived from Anderlecht.
Will Rangers bring Luis Palma to Ibrox?
Palma was in outstanding form again in midweek, scoring two and setting up another during Aris’ 4-2 victory over Volos. His first was a fierce finish, lashed home from the tightest of angles with his supposedly ‘weaker’ left foot.
And Papadopoulos, who coached Aris from 2013 to 2014, believes there is no one better in Greek football when it comes to striking the football; Palma’s shooting cleaner than Kim Woodburn’s kitchen worktop and crisper than a bag of Walkers.
“Palma is the best shooter in the league, especially from set pieces,” Papadopoulos tells Metrosport.
“If you want to be a team that wants to win titles, you have to keep Palma. Of course, it is not easy to keep him, if offers come from better leagues.”
Palma, who has 13 goals and eight assists in all competitions (more than Alfredo Morelos), is likely to replace the out-of-contract Ryan Kent if he moves to Rangers this summer.
