Rangers now ‘very likely’ to make £4.5m star biggest signing since Roofe

A move to Rangers for Aris winger Luis Palma may now be ‘very likely’ with the Scottish Premiership giants reportedly stepping up their pursuit of the Honduras international.

That is according to Greek publication SDNA; Ryan Kent’s soon-to-be expiring contract opening the door for a new left-sided attacker to arrive at Ibrox.

Per Sport Time, Rangers have scouts to watch Palma this season. The 23-year-old reportedly expects to see Aris let him go too, with Mick Beale’s side joining teams in France, Germany, Belgium, America and Brazil in pursuit of a man who scored directly from a corner during the 2-1 victory over Olympiakos this week.

That was Palma’s 11th goal of a terrific individual campaign.

Rangers, SDNA report, are very ‘impressed’ with the Honduras international’s performances. A move to Glasgow is now allegedly ‘very likely’ with the Gers ‘ready to proceed’ with a deal that could set them back a fee in the region of £4.5 million.

Rangers could bring Luis Palma to Ibrox

That would supposedly make Palma the most expensive new signing at Ibrox since Kemar Roofe arrived from Anderlecht back in 2020. Roofe, meanwhile, is one of a number of attackers facing an uncertain future heading into the window. Kent is out of contract, as is Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield.

Malik Tillman, meanwhile, is only on loan from Bayern Munich. Rangers may already have a replacement lined up too in the shape of QPR’s Chris Willock; a man Beale knows well from his time in charge at Loftus Road.

Both Willock and Palma would help Rangers transition from a tired old era and into a bold new one.

“(Ronaldo) is my idol,” Palma told Honduran legend Carlo Costly a couple of months ago, pulling out CR7’s new ‘sleeper’ celebration after hitting a hat-trick past PAS Lamia in November (Deportes).

“I’d like to play in the Spanish league, or the Premier League. I like the Bundesliga a lot too,” adds Palma. “I’d like to go to the Premier very much. I am inspired by those leagues, but we are going step by step.”
