QPR chairman Amit Bhatia is caught up in an angry Twitter like storm as Rangers are reportedly given permission to speak to Michael Beale.

Multiple reports began to spread online over the weekend that the Gers had made an official approach for the former Ibrox assistant with The Telegraph’s John Percy claiming a deal is expected to happen.

This comes after Rangers sacked Dutch coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst with the club nine points behind eternal rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race.

There has been some backlash to the move from within the QPR support and this spread to chairman Amid Bhatia later in the day as he appeared to like an angry fan’s tweet on Twitter.

Amit Bhatia likes “fuming” tweet as Michael Beale prepares Rangers move

The Rangers move for Beale comes after Steven Gerrard’s former Ibrox assistant turned down an approach from Premier League Wolves earlier in the season.

In his first job in management at QPR, Michael Beale reaffirmed his commitment to what the club was building and was revered by Amit Bhatia in the process.

But now the QPR chairman has been caught in something of a Twitter storm by liking a tweet sent by an angry fan who has claimed Beale is doing a “runner” and that Amit Bhatia must be “fuming”.

It’s all a bit sour and whilst we appreciate Michael Beale made some comments regarding the project at QPR recently, those at Loftus Road seem to be forgetting what he’s said about Rangers in the past.

Michael Beale has been the clear frontrunner throughout the management process and has always been clear that he’d love to return to Rangers as manager one day.

So much so that the former Liverpool, Chelsea and Sao Paolo coach has said that “no one turns down Rangers” should an approach from the Glasgow giants come their way.

Meanwhile, there appears to be more to a £9.5m Rangers drama than initially meets the eye.
