Former Rangers boss Mark Warburton has slammed what he calls the “unfair” treatment of former Rangers captain Lee Wallace at the club.
Warburton has just signed Wallace for current club Queens Park Rangers [QPR], and the former Brentford boss has no doubt about his ability. Even if he has struggled for game time at Ibrox.
And Warburton has jumped to the player’s defence after a tumultuous season in Glasgow.

“It was unfair what happened to Lee at Rangers,” Warburton told Sunsport. “It was harsh.
“For whatever political reason, he wasn’t playing.
“Lee stayed on and conducted himself wonderfully well right up to the point he left Rangers. People asked me about him and what was going on.
“Look at the reception he got from the fans”
“How he conducts himself day-in day-out, ask any of the players how they saw him and look at the reception he got from the fans.
“Yet to go from playing for Scotland at Wembley to not playing at all? Explain that to me.
“There’s no doubt about Lee’s ability — nor his professionalism.
“I’ve felt sorry for him, I know how much football means to him. But how he dealt with it all speaks volumes for his character.”
It’s strong words from his former boss Warburton, who clearly believes in Waldo the person as much as he does the player.
And many Rangers fans probably feel the same as the English manager.
Wallace was an absolute icon to the Ibrox faithful, give or take a few rocky patches. The loyalty he showed during the club’s time of need was unrivalled, at least on the pitch.

But after Wallace and Kenny Miller were suspended following a bust-up with Graeme Murty in the wake of a Scottish Cup semi mauling at the hands of Celtic, it appeared to be curtains for both players.
No-one really knows what happened that day, but no party has come out of it smelling of roses. And Mark Warburton believes that Lee Wallace has drawn the short straw.
We wish the former Gers captain all the best down south and in resurrecting his career.
