Rangers are in a much better place than they were just a few weeks ago.
Four wins in a row will do that but it has been the manner of some of them that has really helped – blowing away Nice and Kilmarnock and comfortable again at Ross County.
Gers have not conceded a single goal in the three domestic matches while smashing in ten at the other end as the dominance that should be expected has returned.
Two games coming up this week against Tottenham and Celtic will be a very different challenge but at least the mood has lifted ahead of them and the team has given fans reasons to feel good about them.
As well as collective performances, there have been individual improvements from Rangers players too.
James Tavernier goal epitomises Rangers mindset change
The third Rangers goal was a thing of beauty, built up from Leon Balogun at the back and passed through the midfield, into the box and out wide to James Tavernier.
The captain then sweetly rattled it home for his second in two games after winning his place back.
Billy Dodds reckons that moment says it all about the skipper but also the team as a whole.
He told BBC Sportscene: “I think individually you can see the confidence flowing back to James Tavernier from where he was a few weeks ago.
“But I think it’s collectively right throughout the team where the third goal epitomised everything, for me.
“The build-up to it, the passages of play, the movement, the amount of passes that were within it.
“Then the ball up to the striker, it’s held but then it kind of bobs out to Tavernier who rams it home. It’s as sweet as you like, that strike.
“It sort of shows where Rangers’ mindset has changed from three weeks ago to now.”
Tavernier earns manager and teammate praise
Tavernier has already had special praise from manager Philippe Clement and his teammate John Souttar.
“That is an amazing technical goal,” Clement smiled. “That’s top-class to score in that way.”
“That is what the skip does,” added Souttar, a ninth clean sheet in 13 Premiership matches for him this season. “[Tavernier] arrives at the back post and it’s a great finish. I don’t think it’s a surprise that he’s done it. He’s done it for years! So hats off to him.
“It was an excellent finish.”
