Premier League side routinely linked to Rangers star confirm striker hunt

West Ham United have been one of the clubs most prominently linked to Rangers star Alfredo Morelos last season and now manager David Moyes has claimed they’re on the hunt for a new striker.

Whilst there’s no official suggestion Morelos is on the English Premier League club’s shortlist this January; the Hammers have been routinely linked to Rangers’ resident Colombian firebrand.

The Sun have previously linked Alfie to the Olympic Stadium, whilst Football Insider and West Ham blogger Ex-WHUEmployee also mentioned Morelos alongside the London club.

However, it’s widely considered West Ham opted to move for French forward and ex-Frankfurt striker Sebastian Haller, who signed in a deal reportedly worth £45m last season [BBC Sport].

But after Haller struggled to settle in England and was eventually sold to Dutch giants Ajax in this window for a reported £20m [Goal], the Hammers are back in the hunt for a forward.

As it stands Michail Antonio is the only recognised striker at the club.

“I am not sure we would have been a Premier League club if we hadn’t done business last January,” said manager David Moyes [BBC Sport].

“It helped us greatly last year. But it has never been a great window – nobody has got much time and you are not sure of players’ availability.

“But if we can find somebody who we think can add to the squad and help us get better then we are going to try and do that.

“We have had one or two offers for players either rejected or not available or the clubs want too much money in our eyes, so it is not as if we are not trying.

“If we don’t get anybody in then that’s the way it is going to be, but it is a transfer window and we are out there trying.

“What I don’t want to do is I don’t want to spend and waste my money, take a wage up bringing a player in, spend big money and find that actually, I’ve got it wrong.

“I’d rather I waited and got someone who might be available in the summer.”

Rangers will be hoping the Hammers aren’t in for their Colombian striker with Morelos, 24, slowly returning to form this season.

The Ibrox striker is one of the club’s major assets and Rangers must resist cashing in on Morelos if they’re to challenge at home and abroad this season.
