Premier League outfit Newcastle United are set to pip Rangers to the signing of Queen’s Park midfielder Reagan Thomson.

The highly-rated teenager has been routinely linked to both St. James’ Park and Ibrox but according to the Scottish Sun, the Magpies have won the race to sign the youngster.

Reports back in October [Daily Record] suggested that both Rangers and Newcastle United were leading the pack for Thomson’s signature but Steve Bruce’s side had stolen a march on Steven Gerrard’s.

Only last week reports also claimed that Rangers had a bid for Thomson knocked back [Daily Mail] from the Scottish League Two outfit.

Reagan Thomson has made nine appearances for the League Two side this season and is considered one of the brightest talents in the Scottish game.

But according to this report Thomson’s future has now been decided and he is set for a move to the English Premier League.
