Premier League legend Alan Shearer has said the English Premier League season should be made null and void despite Liverpool being a matter of games away from the title.
The former Newcastle United striker believes that voiding the current campaign is the only fair outcome as teams tussle with relegation.
With Rangers and Celtic fans arguing over where the title goes up north in Scotland, Shearer’s comments suggest there should only be one outcome anywhere.

“Not completing the season has to be the very last option on the table,” writes Shearer [Sun].
“Every angle and scenario has to be looked at in order to reach a conclusion, even if that means a long delay before playing into next season.
“There is so much speculation and opinion. But the bottom line is that everyone is guessing, and right now there are far more important things.
“If, and it is a huge if, the season cannot be completed then there is no way you can have a winner or loser.
“As harsh and as horrible as that would be for some clubs, none more so than Liverpool, it is the only outcome.
“If you cannot complete the fixtures then you cannot go handing out titles or consider relegating anybody.”
Shearer’s comments come amid uncertainty over what happens to Liverpool’s unassailable lead at the top of the English Premier League.
Even Liverpool have shelved the discussion over the English Premier League with manager Jurgen Klopp making an emotional plea to supporters to get some perspective.

Contrast that with Neil Lennon’s comments about the title going to Parkhead or the reports that Celtic are set to be handed the title and Hearts relegated.
A BBC Sports journalist has claimed that the SPFL is set to award the title to our Parkhead rivals [Wallace] despite a quarter of the season to be played.
