Premier League Burnley have launched a club-record £34m bid for PSV Eindhoven talent Johan Bakayoko; it’s just a few days too late to help Rangers.

According to 90 min, Vincent Kompany is hoping to lure the 20-year-old Belgian to Turf Moor to aid his bid to remain in the Premier League this season.

The report claims that Burnley are ready to make Johan Bakayoko their record signing with PSV lining up Mexican winger Hirving Lozano as a replacement.

Johan Bakayoko impressed in the Champions League Playoff against PSV Eindhoven and could be set leave just days after the 5-1 hammering of Rangers.

Whilst Rangers might be ruing Burnley not setting their aim on the Champions League bound winger a few days ago, the situation gives an inclination of the talent in the PSV squad.

Burnley bank on breaking record for (Johan) Bakayoko

Johan Bakayoko isn’t the only player in the PSV ranks being linked with a money-spinning move away with Liverpool-linked Ibrahim Sangare also strongly linked with a £32m exit.

Rangers boss Michael Beale didn’t mention Johan Bakayoko by name but he certainly nodded to the Burnley-linked star in glowing comments about PSV’s attack.

Whilst the Rangers manager specifically spoke about the impact of Ismael Saibari and Luuk de Jong on the match, the Gers boss claims his side could not deal with the Dutch side’s forwards.

“Over the two legs we have struggled to handle PSV’s forwards in key moments,” Beale said.

“We played against an excellent team and just an apology to our fans who came across.

“They stuck with the team in both legs and they expect a little bit more than what they got.

“PSV are better than the teams we have faced domestically.

“We had to be brave and score. We got three in two legs but the problem is at the other end of the pitch.

“The difference in the teams was quality for sure but the forwards of PSV were too good for us over two legs.”
