Rangers manager Michael Beale has publicly said that he wants Malik Tillman to stay at the club beyond his loan spell, but managerial development at Bayern Munich this week could now dent his transfer plans.
Tillman joined Rangers on loan from Bayern in the summer of 2022.
Rangers have the option to make the loan deal permanent for €7 million (£6.17 million), according to Bild Journalist Christian Falk in CaughtOffSide.
Beale has made it clear on more than one occasion that he is a fan of Tillman and wants him to stay at Rangers in the long run.
Bayern Munich managerial change could affect Malik Tillman at Rangers
However, a managerial change at Bayern could see Tillman – who is “a game changer” and has “magic” according to former Rangers star Barry Ferguson in GlasgowLive – at least get the chance to impress at the German club.
Bayern have dismissed Julian Nagelsmann as their head coach.
Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier in the season, has replaced Nagelsmann as the Bayern manager.

And the former Paris Saint-Germain manager could decide to give Tillman a chance in pre-season.
Nagelsmann clearly did not see the 20-year-old attacking midfielder as part of his plans, which is why he sent the USA international out on loan last summer.
Tuchel may have different ideas.
And Tillman himself could be tempted to try to establish himself in the Bayern first team.
Yes, Rangers have the option to sign the youngster on a permanent deal.
The American attacker himself may not want to stay at Rangers if he feels that he could stand a chance of making name for himself at Bayern under Tuchel.
