The contract situation of Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos continues to bubble away as the Colombian is sent a post-Ibrox warning amid interest from Turkish side Konyaspor.

As the Super Lig window prepared to close this week, reports emerged that Konyaspor had a considered a move for the out-of-contract Alfredo Morelos at Rangers.

It has since been claimed by the Scottish Sun that the striker has actually turned down a “big money” move to the Turkish club, with Alfredo Morelos free to speak to other sides as things stand.

But let it be a warning to the 26-year-old that, if he is genuinely thinking about leaving Rangers, the grass is rarely greener outside the Glasgow goldfish bowl.

Especially considering that Alfredo Morelos has somewhat fell out of form over the last few seasons, with this campaign starting with the striker being banished from the club’s Champions League Playoff squad.

Alfredo Morelos Rangers’ contract takes Konyaspor turn

Now back amongst the team and goals under Michael Beale, the Rangers manager is relaxed regarding the contract situations of both Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.

But that interest from Konyaspor must be a warning shot to Alfredo Morelos regarding where his current status lies outside of Rangers, with the list of clubs willing to take a punt certainly shrinking in recent seasons.

How realistic is a move to La Liga clubs such as Sevilla for the Colombian? Are teams such as Lille at the top of Ligue 1 willing to take a risk on the player’s well-publicised attitude issues? Is the Premier League realistic?

There is no doubt that at the peak of his powers, the answer to those questions would’ve certainly been yes but as Alfredo Morelos’ contract ticks down at Rangers there are now major doubts.

The striker is also said to have wage demands above what the Ibrox side are willing to pay and at present, it’s hard to argue that Morelos is justifying the wage he is currently on let alone an increase.

It is making for an interesting situation heading into the final few months of Morelos’ contract and if Konyaspor is the level the Rangers striker is headed after Ibrox then perhaps he might be reassessing his options.

Rangers defender Connor Goldson has also been firing a warning of his own to those Ibrox stars considering leaving.
