Popular former Rangers player Matt Polster is delighted for his former teammates for securing 55 but gutted to be missing out on a potentially ‘massive’ title celebration in May [Glasgow Times].

Polster served as a backup right-back at Ibrox for a season and a half, making only ten appearances across all competitions.

He always showed commitment on the pitch and spoke glowingly of the club off of it, though, endearing himself to supporters.

The 27-year-old joined MLS side New England Revolution last summer for a fee in the region of £300,000 [Scottish Sun] as he looks to get himself back into contention for the USA national team, and impressed in his preferred holding midfield role during his first campaign.

He’s still been watching the Light Blues from afar, though, and is delighted to see his former club achieve success.

“They have had a hell of a season and they are doing incredible – I’m not shocked,” he said [Glasgow Times]. “I’m not sure which celebrations will be able to be held and I hope they get to have a parade and a massive celebration with all the fans and celebrate properly. I know that might not be possible with Covid and everything.”

“Hopefully that will happen. I wish I was there for it, I know it will be one hell of a party!

“But I’m just happy that they had a great season and finally got to 55.”

Polster clearly knows what the title triumph means to Rangers fans and although mass gatherings are unlikely to be permitted by trophy day in mid-May, the club will likely liaise with Police Scotland in advance as supporters will be determined to celebrate in style.

The MLS returns this weekend and the former Ger’s first assignment is to help the Revolution take all three points from a trip to Chicago Fire’s Soldier Field on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a rapid winger produced a brilliant goal and assist on Tuesday just days after Rangers reportedly made transfer enquiries.
