Ahead of the January transfer window, Rangers have to break the habit of a lifetime and sign players who make an immediate and positive impact.
Given that Philippe Clement will, probably, still be playing catch up in the league, there is no time for potential new recruits to settle and to adapt to Scottish football.
The manager doesn’t need squad players either, however, a signing from last January is showing that his time at Rangers maybe wasn’t judged fairly.

Fabio Silva continues to prove Rangers doubters wrong
Fabio Silva arrived on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers with a big price tag on his back and as big a level of expectation.
With only six goals, the Portuguese forward didn’t meet the demands of fans, but a loan spell at Las Palmas this season is paying dividends.
Playing in his preferred central position, Silva has four goals and one assist in 10 games and has just been awarded the Under-23 player of the month award for La Liga:
“The Portuguese forward Fábio Silva has been named LALIGA EA SPORTS’ Best U-23 Player for November, an award presented by LALIGA in collaboration with Riyadh Season. The young striker has become a key player for UD Las Palmas, showcasing his excellent form this month with two goals in the iconic yellow jersey,” a statement from the league confirmed.
“The 22-year-old, born in Porto, has displayed his outstanding scoring ability and seamlessly adapted to the competition. Fábio added two more goals to his tally: scoring the opener in Diego Martínez’s side’s victory against Rayo Vallecano (0-1) and netting the temporary equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Gran Canaria against RCD Mallorca in the final match of the month. His youth and talent are energizing Las Palmas fans, filling them with excitement and hope.”
Is Clement repeating Silva mistake with another Rangers player?
What happened to Silva is happening to Nedim Bajrami due to the unavailability of other players.
Yes, he is doing a decent job on the left-hand side of the attack, but he isn’t a winger, the Albanian clearly looks more comfortable when he can cut inside and link play with the other forwards.
Silva is showing that he, with hindsight, might have been a better option than Cyriel Dessers through the middle of the attack, had there been more players available for the left.
Having said that, a lot of players are a better option when the Rangers No.9 is having an off day.
