Philippe Clement Rangers sack prediction as Aberdeen made favourites for crunch Gers clash

Rightly or wrongly, pressure is growing on Rangers manager Philippe Clement.

Some furious Gers fans have started to turn on the Belgian after defeat to Kilmarnock at the weekend while Clement is being asked difficult questions in press conferences.

And supporters are none too impressed with his “embarrassing” response to being quizzed on criticisms of Rangers’ style of play.

With FCSB in the Europa League tonight followed by St Mirren at home and then tricky away games against Aberdeen and Motherwell, supporters will need and want to see an upturn in performances and results.

Scott Allan makes Aberdeen favourites to beat Rangers and Clement prediction

That trip to Pittodrie is going to be particularly crucial with the unbeaten Dons already six points ahead of Gers.

Jimmy Thelin is making a mockery of Clement’s claims about needing time to implement his methods and also to bed new signings in as Aberdeen threaten to mount a title challenge.

At the very least they are contenders to finish second and many have been bigging them up to put up a fight after the impressive start they’ve had, combined with the wobbles at Ibrox.

Former Rangers signing target Scott Allan is one who thinks there is going to be a fight for the runners-up spot.

In fact, he is making the Dons favourites to win that crunch tie next week and feels that could put the writing on the wall for Clement.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer’s Football Show, he said: “I think already there’s going to be a big fight on their hands for second based on what we’ve seen so far, especially how Aberdeen performed against Celtic and being 2-0 down, being resolute and grinding their way back into the game. Could have sneaked it at the end as well.

“So this game is huge for Rangers. At this current moment you would have to say Aberdeen are favourites.”

Asked what that would mean, he went on: “Decisions will have to be made, no question. I think if they lose – because we can talk about things behind the scenes, transfer windows, clearouts – performance and getting the best out of the players you’ve got, I think he’s not getting the best of out of the players he’s got.

“I think there is more in there and I don’t think he’s the man that’s doing it.”

Allan was ribbed for his failure to make a definitive statement on the manager, and pushed for one added: “I think if Philippe Clement loses that game because he’s not getting the most out of his team, which we’ve seen all season, then yes he’s under real pressure and part of me thinks he could be out of a job on the Monday.

“Do I think he’ll get the sack if they don’t win at Aberdeen? Yes.”

What would defeat to Aberdeen mean for Rangers?

Losing at Pittodrie would likely put the Dons NINE points ahead in the race for second, potentially more if there is a poor display against St Mirren at the weekend.

It wouldn’t be impossible to claw that but it can’t be denied Rangers would have then put themselves in a very, very difficult position.

And, given the response and feeling around the manager currently, it’s hard to imagine there wouldn’t be clamour to replace him at that point.
