Philippe Clement claims it could be a few days before Rangers find out the extent of a potential hamstring injury to Oscar Cortes.

The talented Colombian forward, 20, has been on fine form ever since joining the club on loan from RC Lens and once again impressed in the eventual 2-1 victory over Killie.

But midway through the second half Oscar Cortes was hooked in place of Scott Wright as Rangers fans nervously watched the kid grip his hamstring.

Speaking after the game, Philippe Clement was asked about the situation involving Oscar Cortes but claimed it’ll be a few days until he can provide an injury update.

The Rangers manager was talking in a post-match press conference as he lamented the club’s ongoing injury problems.

Clement also reiterated his pledge to resolve the club’s persistent issues in the medical department heading into the summer and next season.

“No idea for the moment,” said Clement, when asked how Oscar Cortes was after the game. “It’s really early so we will see tomorrow or the day after and to make a good assessment about him, if he was tired or is it more.

“Let’s hope not because we’re missing already enough players. That’s something to work on the next months and for sure in the preparation of next season.”

Kilmarnock win to come at cost?

With the matches coming thick and fast Rangers will want Oscar Cortes to be available with hamstring issues always potentially complicated.

Rangers have had a series of long-standing injury problems all season long with the club missing Kieran Dowell, Alex Lowry, Todd Cantwell, Abdallah Sima, Rabbi Matondo, and Danilo as things stand.

Whilst the 2-1 Scottish Premiership victory over Kilmarnock made it ten wins on the bounce for Rangers, the club’s forward line is under increasing injury pressure and Philippe Clement clearly hopes the issue will relent.

Rangers fans will have their fingers crossed that Oscar Cortes isn’t out for any length of time through injury as they look to continue their assault on another three competitions.
