Rangers injury news and return dates ahead of Kilmarnock as 5 remain out

The very latest Rangers injury news and potential return dates as Philippe Clement’s side prepare to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park tonight.

Rangers continue their Scottish Premiership title charge this evening and it’s going to be a tricky one. Kilmarnock are the hosts in Ayrshire and it’s never been a happy hunting ground for Gers in recent years.

Since the club reached the top-flight again in 2016, they have beaten Killie on just four occasions out of the last 12 meetings at Rugby Park [Fitbastats].

Derek McInnes is a fantastic manager and knows exactly how to set his team up. It’s a potential banana skin for Rangers but Philippe Clement and his in-form men will still be confident of getting a positive result.

Here is the latest Rangers injury news with Clement pleased to confirm that there are no fresh absences from the thumping victory over Hearts on Saturday.

Rangers injury news vs Kilmarnock

At the moment, Rangers’ treatment room isn’t as crowded as it has been previously this season. Five players are definitely ruled out for the Kilmarnock clash but most of these guys are long-term concerns.

Ryan Jack has not been included in the list below because the midfielder is not injured. However, he may still be left out of the matchday squad as Clement continues to manage his recovery.

Rabbi Matondo injury latest

Rabbi Matondo is currently sidelined due to a small muscle injury. The problem was picked up in the win over Ross County at Ibrox on February 14 and the winger has not been seen since.

Clement hasn’t delivered an update on Matondo since then so the Welshman is very likely to sit the Kilmarnock game out.

Abdallah Sima injury latest

Rangers winger Abdallah Sima was in flying form before picking up a serious thigh injury at the 2023 AFCON with Senegal.

That crushing news was confirmed on January 20 when Gers beat Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup and very little has been mentioned regarding his progress since.

However, Clement did say at the end of January that Sima underwent surgery on his thigh and he will miss “two to three months” of action.

It was in Edinburgh where he picked up a serious knee injury and was ruled out for the majority of the season, four months to be precise.

Expected return date: Early April

Kieran Dowell injury latest

Kieran Dowell has shown he can be an effective player for Rangers but the midfielder has struggled to stay fit this season.

The former Norwich City man last played for Gers against Kilmarnock on January 2 and hasn’t been seen since. That’s because he picked up an injury whilst training with Rangers at La Manga during the mid-season winter break.

He was ruled out for two months and is currently recovering from a successful surgery.

Expected return date: Late March

Alex Lowry injury latest

Alex Lowry returned to Rangers from his loan spell at Hearts during the January transfer window. Unfortunately, he came back to the Rangers Training Centre with a suspected back injury.

The 20-year-old playmaker was ruled out at the end of January for “six to eight weeks” so it may not be too long now before Lowry is available again for selection.
