Rangers manager Philippe Clement has hailed Vaclav Cerny for proving the doubters wrong – but claims the reborn Wolfsburg loanee isn’t the only one.
Czech winger Cerny, 27, was once again the hero for Rangers as he scored the winner in the team’s unconvincing 2-1 victory over St Mirren at Ibrox.
This follows on from a Vaclav Cerny double in the 4-0 Europa League win over FCSB at Ibrox and two goals in the 4-0 win over St Johnstone earlier in the month.
With five goals in his last four games, Philippe Clement faced questions on Vaclav Cerny come full-time and hailed the winger for answering early questions about his Ibrox credentials.

Philippe Clement was speaking about Vaclav Cerny to BBC Sport after the 2-1 Rangers victory over St Mirren at Ibrox.
The Rangers manager is always keen to focus on the collective and whilst he did hail Cerny’s recent form, the ex-Club Brugge boss also took the chance to praise an unsung hero in the victory.
Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers is a man under mounting pressure with the hitman without a goal in his last seven games.
But Clement hailed the Nigerian international’s role in Vaclav Cerny’s winning goal with Cyriel Dessers in a similar situation to the one the Czech star was in only a few weeks ago.
“He got a lot of stick three weeks ago from a lot of people,” said Clement when asked about the form of Cerny.
“And that was his reaction and those kind of people we need in the building.
“In that way I am also happy with Cyriel (Dessers), how he came in with the energy he came in and how he gave the assist for the second important goal.”
Rangers winger won over fans with ‘honesty’
Vaclav Cerny’s resurgence also comes after the winger impressed Rangers fans with his response to criticism regarding his form.
The Rangers winger had clashed with Ibrox supporters in the 1-0 Scottish Premiership win over Hibs at the end of September before bouncing back in the win over St Johnstone.
Facing the press in the aftermath of the 4-0 victory, where Vaclav netted a double, an ‘honest’ Cerny impressed Rangers fans by insisting it’s on him to deliver at ibrox.
“I mean, it’s tough, but in the end, I don’t care if anybody understands or not, it’s part of the game,” Cerny said.
“And it’s your choice to join the club, and it’s your job to be ready as soon as possible.
“I wasn’t struggling in the beginning, obviously, and so that’s on me, all of that. But in the end, you get a family, you need to settle in.
“It’s not only you playing football, that’s not important now, but in the end, it’s about how you react to things, and I think today was a good reaction, and I want to build on this.”
