Philippe Clement blind to Rangers statistic that sees them worst in league after Kilmarnock shambles

Rangers under Philippe Clement seem to be taking one step forwards and two steps back as so perfectly demonstrated by the defeat to Kilmarnock.

What was a great opportunity to start this block of fixtures with positivity and renewed belief has seen the manager come under more pressure than at any time since taking over at Ibrox.

The club is lacking direction on and off the pitch, but a startling statistic concerning Rangers away form is one that could see Clement in even more trouble if it doesn’t improve.

Rangers away form throws up shocking goal scoring statistic

In four home games, Rangers sit bottom for goals scored with a grand total of one.

Teams know that they can just sit in and protect their box and have a comfortable afternoon.

What is worrying, is that the Gers boss seems oblivious to his own sides failings, as told to Sky Sports:

“Yes, of course, you need in these games, like you said, that kind of magic and to open up the defence. They work really hard.

“We know that, all respect towards Kilmarnock about that. That’s why it’s a difficult place to play.

“Also on the surface, you need to be even more precise than on a grass pitch.

“So, all these things you know before you come here, so you need to take these decisive moments, which we didn’t take also, with the chances we had.

“So. it’s all on us that we were not good enough to win this game.

“It’s a frustration of today because I don’t think this is the face the team showed in the last couple of weeks.

“It’s a different kind of game also but we had to adapt better in that way.”

The away form league table does not make for pleasant reading.

Clement has to start looking at his own failings

With the right tactics, it shouldn’t take a “kind of magic”.

There is a major problem with the quality of chances being created with an xG (expected goals) difference of around 0.5 since losing against Celtic.

In short, some of the games could have gone either way with a bit of luck.

Tom Lawrence’s goal against Dundee United remains Rangers only away goal of the season with a form guide of one win, two draws and two defeats.

Hardly title winning form.
