Graeme Souness escaped the axe at Rangers after an infamous cup defeat to Hamilton, however, unlike Philippe Clement, he had already brought the league title back to the club.
The manager has already faced calls for his sacking with the boos ringing around Ibrox a perfect demonstration of the current feeling amongst the support.
Despite Clement thinking that resigning or his sacking would make a difference, comments by Patrick Stewart suggest that his job might not be entirely safe at Rangers.

Patrick Stewart has already issued Philippe Clement a threat
Speaking less than a month ago, the CEO addressed the manager’s position and how the cycle of hiring and sacking needs to be replaced.
However, Clement’s backing was issued with a caveat:
“If we rush and react every time there’s some poor results, we’re in danger of just being back in the same place in a year’s time or 18 months’ time or however long,” Stewart explained.
“But I want to be clear, look, I’m not saying everything is fine, and I think the fans are frustrated, I get that.
“We wouldn’t make any decision on a manager based on financial reasons, absolutely not. Football is results-based and I’m not offering any guarantees as to length of tenure because it’s all about improving results.
“Philippe and I have had that discussion so it would be foolhardy of me to say we retain any employee irrespective of results. Of course it’s results-based but equally we all want to work together to improve that and that’s what we’re focused on at the moment.”
Is Queen’s Park defeat the final straw?
In a results-based industry, Clement can have no argument if Stewart decides that enough is enough.
After all, it doesn’t get much worse than recording Rangers worst ever home result in a domestic cup competition.
The first defeat at home against lower league opposition.
Results did improve, but on almost every occasion, when it matters, Clement has to make changes at half-time.
The defeat to Queen’s Park doesn’t need to be taken in isolation, even if it is enough to get most managers sacked, but it should be the final nail in the coffin.
