A pair of untried teenagers have been snapped in Rangers training ahead of the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final against Livingston.

The two Premiership sides will face off at Ibrox on Wednesday night, with a spot in a Hampden Park semi-final up for grabs.

Steven Gerrard is without a number of big players for the game, including Filip Helander, Ryan Jack and Ryan Kent.

However, one recent absentee, Ianis Hagi, is back available.

The Romania international was snapped in training on Tuesday after recovering from Covid and a pair of untried teenagers could also be spotted in the training material released by the club.

Charlie McCann and Lewis Budinauckas.

McCann only joined the Gers from Manchester United at the end of July and since then, he’s been starring in midfield for the B team in the Lowland League.

After a weekend off, David McCallum’s side are back in action on Saturday against Gala Fairydean Rovers, but McCann featured in both the first-team training gallery and video released by the club on Tuesday evening.

Perhaps this is the start of his gradual transition to becoming a first-team player and there’s an outside chance that the 19-year-old could make the bench for the Livi tie.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Budinauckas, who is also 19, also featured in the training gallery.

The youngster has been with the Gers Academy for several years but is behind Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin, Robby McCrorie and Kieran Wright in the pecking order, and therefore, he was likely just building up experience training with the first-team rather than pushing for a spot in the matchday squad.

His finest day at Rangers to date came during the 2019/20 season when he saved two penalties in a shootout victory for the Gers Colts over Solihull Moors in the Challenge Cup.

There was a much-needed win for the Gers U18s on Tuesday night, as they downed a rival club at the Rangers Training Centre.
