Rangers fans have responded to a brilliant video featuring a host of first-team players as supporters are reminded of the looming Season Ticket renewal deadline.
All of the Gers’ home matches this season have taken place behind closed doors and there’ll be no change for the final fixture of the Premiership campaign against Aberdeen on Saturday, with restrictions only set to be eased sufficiently at the beginning of next week.
There’s hope that the 2021/22 season will look a lot different, though, given that all of the UK adult population should have been offered a Covid vaccine by the time it gets underway at the end of July.
Rangers are pressing ahead with their season ticket process and a mixture of that optimism and the remarkable loyalty of the fan base has seen an impressive uptake so far.
By last Tuesday, 20,000 season tickets had been renewed [Rangers.co.uk] and on Monday night, the club released a promotional video shot at Ibrox to remind fans of the 17th May deadline [Rangers FC Twitter].
The piece, which is just over a minute long, features a host of first-team players – including James Tavernier, Alfredo Morelos and Ianis Hagi – exchanging messages and videos in a group chat about the league title and the prospect of fans returning next season.
In a clever touch, the battery level of the phone displaying the ‘group chat’ messages is at 55%.
Memorable moments from the season are included, such as Allan McGregor’s world-class save against Slavia Prague and title celebrations both in the Ibrox dressing room and at the training ground.
The video drew a lot of positive responses on social media and the creative reminder may well have helped to boost renewals, with the club confirming on Wednesday morning that the 30,000 mark had been reached [Rangers FC Twitter].
