One-time Rangers linked striker Kevin Nisbet has netted a hattrick for Hibernian in only his second match for the Easter Road club.

The 23-year-old forward joined the Hibees from Championship Dunfermline in the summer after an impressive season in Fife where the forward netted 23 times for the Pars.

Nisbet – who began his career at Partick Thistle – appears to have picked up in Edinburgh where he left off in Fife with an impressive start to his career in Leith.

The striker scored a first-half brace before adding a third from the penalty spot in an impressive 4-1 win for Jack Ross’ side away to stubborn Livingston.

Fellow striker Christian Doidge had made it three for the Edinburgh club before Lyndon Dykes gave the Lions hope, but Nisbet would secure the match ball and the three points with two minutes to go from the penalty spot.

Rangers were heavily linked to Kevin Nisbet by the Glasgow Times back in November 2019 but the interest did not materialise.

Similarly to reported interest in Lawrence Shankland, the Bears opted not to take the plunge for homegrown to talent with Nisbet moving to Hibs.

The striker had his heart set on a move to Easter Road from January and even joined the club on a reduced wage from what was originally sounded out due to the coronavirus shutdown [BBC Sport].

The Gers have instead splashed out to bring striker duo Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten to the club from Anderlecht and FC St. Gallen respectively.

Forwards Roofe and Itten were said to have cost the Ibrox side anywhere between £6-9m amid conflicting reports about the cost of the officially undisclosed transfer fees.
