Conflicting reports have emerged surrounding the cost of Rangers strike duo Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.

That hasn’t stopped newspapers and media outlets speculating but there appears to be conflicting information out there about how much the players cost.

According to Clyde Superscoreboard, Rangers splashed out a combined £9m on the two players and they ran with that on their show on 04/08/20.

“It’s very early days but we’re looking at something in the ballpark of £9m for both of these players,” said show host Gordan Duncan.

“So serious signings.”

Roger Hannah would then described the move as “Rangers’ biggest single day of spending in a generation” and reiterated the £9m figure.

Gordan Duncan would then go on to claim that Roofe is “rumoured” to have cost £5m whilst Itten’s price tag was closer to £4m.

However, the Scottish Sun would report this morning that Rangers spent £6m on the two players, specifically £3.5m on Kemar Roofe and £2.5m on Cedric Itten.

It’s a considerable difference of £3m but the comments of Ross Wilson on the signing of Itten somewhat prove that the Scottish press were very much in the dark about the moves.

Wilson revealed that the Itten transfer had been concluded last week but Rangers were waiting until the end of the Swiss Super League to announce the move.

“This deal was agreed just over a week ago but with St Gallen in a title race and battle for European places we were respectful of that with the Swiss season only ending on Monday evening,” said Wilson [Rangers].
