Rangers fans rubbished a claim made by former Gers player Josh Windass on Twitter during the Europa League clash with Brondby at Ibrox.
It was a must-win game for Steven Gerrard’s side after defeats to Lyon and Sparta Prague and they triumphed 2-0 courtesy of goals from Leon Balogun and Kemar Roofe.

Balogun put the hosts 1-0 up with a header from a James Tavernier corner in the 18th minute and Roofe provided breathing space with a poacher’s finish 12 minutes later.
The former Leeds and Anderlecht star was initially flagged offside, but a goal was given after a VAR check.

The decision shocked former Rangers attacker Windass, who currently plays for Sheffield Wednesday.

However, moments later, lines were shown on the TV coverage proving that defender Henrik Heggheim’s left foot played Roofe onside.
Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to put Windass right.

After scores of fans responded to his initial claim, Windass replied individually to two supporters before making it clear in another tweet that he’d since realised his mistake.

Windass split opinion amongst the fanbase during his time at Rangers but speaks with fondness about his time in Glasgow and is still in touch with some of his former Ibrox teammates.
He might be getting a message from one or two of them this morning after this social media blunder!
In other news, Rangers U19s have progressed to the second round of the UEFA Youth League.
