Nicolas Raskin was the captain for the day as Rangers ran out 3-0 winners over Celtic in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox.

The influential Belgian midfielder, 23, has been one of Rangers’ top performers this season and the ex-Standard Liege star’s growth was exemplified by him being handed the captain’s armband.

Nicolas Raskin was once again one of the top performers on the day and put in a commanding performance as the Ibrox midfield dominated their Celtic counterparts.

But come full-time the Rangers star had some choice words for referee Don Robertson following a clash with Celtic captain Callum McGregor.

Nicolas Raskin reckon it was ‘unfair’ to book him for a clash with McGregor right on half-time, with the Celtic captain let off the hook by Robertson having already been shown a yellow card.

Nicolas Raskin on Callum McGregor moment

“I just didn’t understand you know,” Raskin said after the game. “Because McGregor and me we had some contact.

”The referee wanted, I think he wanted to book him both, so looked at him and remembered he had a yellow and then just book me.

”So it was a bit unfair for me because if you book me you have to book him, we’ve done the same thing both.

”So yeah it’s just a bit weird.

”I was calm. I was just explaining to the ref that it’s unfair because if you want to book, you book both players. You don’t book one and not the other one.

”The referee explained to me that he just didn’t really see but then, you book no-one or you book both.”

‘Rangers win will be remembered for my whole life’

Nicolas Raskin has also reflected on the Rangers performance in the thumping 3-0 victory over Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The Belgian midfielder was instrumental in the victory and played a crucial role in dominating the middle of the park and laying the foundations for the win.

Handed the captain’s armband, it was a proud day for Nico for a number of reasons but not least because his family were in attendance at Ibrox to watch the game.

“Very proud (of the performance),” Raskin told the press. “But I think the fans deserved a performance like this.

”We also deserved a performance like that as a group.

”I know the last two games have been not great and we all know that so it was a really, really good performance and I think we all enjoyed so much.

”Yesterday in training we looked good. We got the confidence from the training and you know, Thursday nights are good nights for us.

“So we just come into that game with confidence and every game is not played before we play, so we just go and give everything.

”We also knew the cup final we were really close to winning so we just had the confidence to go.

”At the end of the day it’s only three points so we need to repeat this in three days.

”Today was a special afternoon for me because my family was there. My father has not been in the stadium many time, I think it’s the second time he came to watch me.

”So yeah, I was really proud today and the game was perfect.

“We played a great game, we enjoyed so, it’s going to be a day that I’m going to remember my whole life.”
