Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin takes to Instagram to break his post-Celtic silence and offer Ibrox fans fresh hope for the future.
The Gers support’s prayers were answered when the Belgian U21 international midfielder was declared fit for the eventual 3-2 defeat at Celtic Park.
Ibrox manager Michael Beale had come in for criticism from fans for not including the January signing from the start in the abysmal League Cup Final Old Firm defeat.
Nicolas Raskin sends Instagram message
Starting alongside fellow new start Todd Cantwell, Nicolas Raskin echoed the words of his teammate but urging Rangers supporters to trust the “project” on Instagram.
That’s even if the ex-Standard Liege midfielder admitted the weekend’s controversial defeat to Celtic – which comes against the backdrop of refereeing controversy – was “painful”.
“It was a painful weekend, but let’s turn the pain into strength and continue the project,” said Nicolas Raskin on Instagram.
The message comes after fellow new signing Todd Cantwell – who was once touted as a £50m Premier League player – also took to social media following the defeat to Celtic.
Although the English midfielder courted a little more controversy by claiming that Rangers lost the game courtesy of their own mistakes more than Celtic won it.
Both players have been a breath of fresh air at Rangers amid a season of injury crisis and domestic pain as Celtic gallop to yet another title amid meek Ibrox resistance.
It’s interesting both describe the “project” at Rangers and this will provide fans with fresh hope when it comes to the future.
Heading into next season, the addition of these two young, hungry footballers is viewed as a major boost to Rangers’ chances and the club’s supporters will be hoping the other acquisitions are in this mould.
