New Rangers arrival Aaron Cervantes made his debut on Tuesday as the U18s defeated fellow Premiership club Dundee United at the Rangers Training Centre.

Cervantes is the first player the Gers have brought in from partner club Orange County SC.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper signed in October 2020 but only jetted into Glasgow late last month.

He has since said that signing with the Gers was the ‘best feeling in the world’ and that he is delighted to finally have the chance to get to work at Auchenhowie and to learn from senior players like Allan McGregor [Rangers.co.uk].

The USA youth international made the bench for the CAS League opener against Kilmarnock last week and on Tuesday afternoon, he made his debut, starting in goal against Dundee United.

Cervantes wasn’t able to keep a clean sheet, but the young Gers were able to record a second straight victory, triumphing 2-1.

Promising young striker Robbie Ure (17) – who scored regularly for the U16s prior to making the step up to this level – bagged the opener and midfielder Ross McCausland (17) netted the ultimately crucial second goal.

It’s a promising start to the CAS League campaign for the age-group side, who are coached by David McCallum and Cameron Campbell, and Cervantes will be hoping to rack up a number of appearances between now and the end of the season.

In other news, Rangers’ partners Castore have confirmed exciting plans in response to remarkable demand from Rangers fans.
