Nedim Bajrami channels his inner Todd Cantwell with cryptic Instagram post after Albania chop

Nedim Bajrami hasn’t had the most productive few weeks as the Rangers playmaker drops out of the Albania starting XI.

Bajrami was dropped by Albania against Andorra in the week after Brazilian manager Sylvinho indirectly criticised Nedim for his role in the 3-1 defeat to England.

Albanian fan media lampooned Bajrami for that ineffective display at Wembley, with the criticism of recent Rangers performances also hanging over the playmaker.

Rangers paid Sassuolo £3.4m to sign Nedim Bajrami in the summer but so far the club are yet to see any real effective returns on that investment.

But a la Todd Cantwell, Bajrami has now bitten back amongst the criticism with a cryptic social media post which is unlikely to do him any favours in Tirana or at Ibrox.

Nedim Bajrami in Albania Instagram controversy

After being dropped by Albania for the match against Andorra, Bajrami took to social media with a a shared message alongside Gwangju FC striker Jasir Asani.

Like Bajrami, Asani was an unused substitute as Albania romped to a 3-0 win over the European minnows with both players clearly disgruntled by their treatment.

The Instagram post of the two players in Albania jerseys includes the shushing and talking emojis, a potential reference to recent criticism of the players at club and international level.

The unwelcome circus comes with Sylvinho hoping to navigate Albania through a favourable World Cup qualifying group which includes England, Serbia, Latvia and Andorra.

Todd Cantwell proves social media nonsense never ends well at Rangers

Whilst this time around it certainly appears like Bajrami has been taking aim at the chatter around his status with the Albania team, Rangers fans will note similar issues in the past.

Todd Cantwell had a penchant for social media controversy, something which has continued since the ex-Norwich City midfielder left for Blackburn.

Cantwell’s infamous ‘shushburger’ post riled Rangers fans with the social media usage of ‘Tik Tok Todd’ routinely under the spotlight.

Cantwell also courted James Tavernier controversy on Instagram following the sacking of Belgian manager Philippe Clement, with whom the Englishman had several run-ins.

Ultimately, this kind of toxic behaviour rarely ends well and Rangers fans will be disappointed to see yet another of their players dragged into a public dispute.

Bajrami has not been performing at a high enough level for Rangers and, just like Cantwell, would be better served doing his talking on the pitch.
