Rangers returned to pre-season training this week as the players look to hit the ground running going into the next campaign.

And whilst the likes of new signings Jake Hastie and Greg Stewart were pictured, there was a noticeable absentee.

There was no sighting of Eros Grezda in a range of pre-season photographs released by the club after day one of training.

The much-maligned Albanian winger has the subject of much transfer speculation after a stumbling start to his Rangers career.

Joining from NK Osijek – for around £2m on a 4-year-deal – Grezda struggled to settle in Glasgow.

And when he’s not been putting in barren performances on the field, the rest of his time has been spent on the treatment table.

It could well be the same again for the Albanian as we enter the new campaign.

Grezda was embroiled in a confusing national scandal after withdrawing from the Albanian national team for their most recent set of fixtures.

Albanian manager Edoardo Reja slammed the player demanding he takes “responsibility” for his actions [Daily Record].

It got even worse for Eros at club level when reports suggested Rangers are willing to “listen to offers” for the player [Daily Record].

Whatever’s going on with Grezda – whether he’s injured or being primed for a transfer – the winger isn’t back in Rangers training yet.

And his Ibrox future is beginning to look decidedly bleak.
