Rangers are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Michael Beale, and a former Premier League boss is now being backed to get the role at Ibrox.

Michael Beale has been relieved of his managerial duties at Rangers after less than a year in charge.

Rangers on the hunt for a new manager

Rangers are already behind in the race for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Although the Gers have won their first game in the UEFA Europa League group stage, the Ibrox club could not actually progress to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

I think that it was only a matter of time before Rangers got rid of Beale and brought in someone else.

It is only the beginning of October, and I believe that Rangers could still go on to have a very successful season.

The big question now is who will replace Beale.

Ralph Hasenhuttl backed for Rangers role

One of the names that has been mentioned is Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Former Sheffield United player Curtis Woodhouse is a Rangers fan, and he has said that former Southampton manager Hasenhuttl would be his number one pick for the managerial role at Rangers.

Woodhouse has also suggested former Leeds United and Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce as a potential candidate for the Rangers managerial role.

Hasenhuttl is without a managerial job at the moment.

The 56-year-old Austrian last managed Southampton in England.

The Saints parted company with Hasenhuttl in November 2022.

Hasenhuttl was in charge of German club RB Leipzig from 2016 until 2018.

Rangers will take on Aris Limassol away from home in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening before facing St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership next weekend.
