Michael Beale appeared to add weight to Rangers insider comments by claiming Celtic were behind the controversial decision to lock out Gers fans.

The Parkhead club engineered themselves a sporting advantage in the crunch game – what’s new – by stopping Rangers fans from entering the stadium due to apparent security concerns.

But anyone with half a brain cell can see that the decision is in response to Rangers cutting their 8000 Ibrox allocation.

Celtic got a full stand at Ibrox whilst Rangers were shafted into a corner at Parkhead and the situation came to a head in 2018 when the briefs were reduced.

Now our rivals were somehow given league backing to completely remove Rangers fans for a pivotal match at Celtic Park. All above board we’re sure.

We hear that football is nothing without the fans but Rangers walked into a Parkhead stitch up with the Ibrox support locked out, the SPFL in tow and Celtic’s preferred referee leaving a predictable mark on the game.

What a sporting bunch the morally self-righteous mhob really are.

Michael Beale rails against Celtic lockout

After the game, Michael Beale was asked about the Celtic allocation carry nonsense and he claimed that far from be a mutual call with Rangers, it was the Parkhead side pushing the decision.

“That was my 16th derby and I never seen it how it used to be (with the traditional allocation of 7,000 briefs to the visitors),” said Michael Beale.

“So I’ve only seen it this way and two games at Hampden. The atmosphere at Hampden when it is 50-50 is fantastic. It sells the Scottish game so well.

“I’m not the decision-maker, I’m not in and around it. I’m led to believe it was a call from Celtic why there were no away fans between now and the end of the season. That’s what I’m led to believe, from when I asked the question.

“I can’t say I’m happy with it. Even if you get a few fans it is fantastic. The home fans today made a good atmosphere, ours will at Ibrox, but that bit going back-and-forth would be better for the game.

”It is a game that is played six times a season – as of now – and that is something we need to cherish. We all have to protect that environment.

“I thought the two teams put in a really good game.

“We played against a really top opponent and we looked a good team ourselves. I thought the crowd were up and at other times they were anxious.

“I think they thought they were in a game today. So I thought my players handled it very well.”

The comments follow on from claims by both Follow, Follow and Heart & Hand, which suggested Celtic were behind the allocation decision.

This came in the face of the usual and predictable Rangers baiting coverage from Celtic’s lackeys in the press.
