Rangers are now expected to make Michael Beale the club’s 18th manager – with the ex-Ibrox assistant set to miss QPR training this morning.

Steven Gerrard’s former number two at Ibrox looks set to replace the outgoing Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was sacked after coming up short in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Michael Beale will now be tasked with hauling back a nine point gap at the top of the Scottish top flight and reinstating a sense of style into a stagnant squad which is in dire need of a freshen up.

Whilst nothing is official as of yet, numerous sources are reporting the deal as done with an announcement on Michael Beale to Rangers now a question of when rather than if.

Jordan Campbell of the Athletic is claiming Rangers have agreed a deal, club insiders Heart & Hand believe an announcement is imminent, whilst the likes of TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook have claimed the move is a “done deal”.

QPR kickback as Rangers move for Michael Beale

As the footballing world awaits an official update on the move, it appears inevitable that Michael Beale will now take over at Rangers.

But there have been some sounds of saltiness from within the ranks of QPR, with the likes of Sky Sports claiming that as a result of the Rangers move Beale will not take training on Monday.

The move to Rangers comes after Michael Beale very publicly stated his commitment to QPR amid an approach from Premier League Wolves earlier in the season.

The Rs are the ex-Liverpool, Chelsea and Sao Paolo coach’s first top job in football and Beale knocked back Molineux to focus on what he was building at Loftus Road.

But despite this the Englishman has always been clear regarding his love of the Ibrox club and his desire to return one day, and has previously claimed that no manager turns down Rangers.

The entire thing has some QPR fans railing online, whilst the likes of club chairman Amit Bhatia was caught up in a Twitter storm after liking a tweet aimed at the seemingly Rangers-bound coach.

Football is a funny old game and it appears that Michael Beale has gotten what he wanted by joining Rangers, something QPR and their fans will simply need to suck up in the weeks and months ahead.

Meanwhile, one ex-Rangers captain has been tipped for an extraordinary return to Ibrox under the manager.
