Rangers boss Michael Beale has tentatively suggested both Kieran Dowell and Nicolas Raskin could return from injury before the international break.

The Ibrox boss was speaking after the 4-0 League Cup victory over Livingston which sets up a semi-final clash with Hearts at Hampden in November.

But before then Rangers need to navigate some tricky fixtures in the Scottish Premiership and Europa League in the midst of an injury crisis.

The likes of Todd Cantwell, Danilo, Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence won’t be seen until after the international break, whilst fans are waited with baited breath on the situation surrounding Kemar Roofe.

But speaking tentatively following the victory over Livingston, Michael Beale suggested that both Kieran Dowell and Nicolas Raskin could return from injury before the upcoming October international break.

“I think by the back end of next week there’s a half chance we might see Kieran Dowell and Nicolas Raskin,” Michael Beale said.

“By the time we play we go and play St Mirren, but the call will be made on that a little bit later.

“Otherwise this is the boys we’re working with.”

Michael Beale gives Kieran Dowell & Nicolas Raskin injury hope

The comments suggest that Kieran Dowell’s recovery from an injury – which has kept him out since the first leg Champions League playoff draw with PSV Eindhoven – is behind schedule.

Michael Beale had previously suggested the summer signing from Norwich City could be involved in the clash with Livingston at Ibrox.

Conversely, for Nicolas Raskin the news appears quite the opposite, with Beale initially ruling the young Belgian midfielder out with injury until after the international break.

Now it appears the 22-year-old could return ahead of schedule although it’s clear Rangers are yet to make a call on either player heading into a tough run of fixtures.
