Michael Beale labelled a “bit of a blufffer” as pundit reacts to Sunderland appointment

Michael Beale hasn’t been out of work long after being relieved from his duties at Rangers, Sunderland deciding that he is the right man to take them to the next level.

As Steven Gerrard’s number two, the well-respected coach was seen as the man responsible for implementing the manager’s ideas and helping to rebuild the Rangers squad.

When he returned to Ibrox again though, Michael Beale clearly found being the main man too tough a task with new Rangers manager Philippe Clement showing him how it’s done, as Talksport’s Simon Jordan lays into the Sunderland boss.

Michael Beale given Sunderland word of warning

Jim White’s sparring partner doesn’t just have no sympathy, he borderline eviscerated Beale live on radio.

When asked by White what he thought about the appointment of Beale as replacement for Tony Mowbray, he said:

“I think he’s a bit of a bluffer.”

It gets worse.

When White informed Jordan about Michael Beale’s comments about what went wrong at Rangers and why he is reverting to a head coach rather than managerial role, the former Crystal Palace owner was clearly not impressed:

“Oh shut up and get on with your job.”

Jordan is right, Beale was quite happy to take on the extra responsibility when Ross Wilson left as sporting director – after all, what manager wouldn’t want more control over recruitment?

If Michael Beale does one thing at Sunderland, it should be to give less away in his press conferences and, as Jordan says, get on with the job.

Don’t set expectations too high, don’t promise the world because all that happens then is that you are setting yourself up to fail.

After leaving QPR in controversial fashion to return to Ibrox, Michael Beale failed to deliver at Rangers and has to reset, rethink and refocus at Sunderland.

If he does what he is good at and gets them organised and well-structured then he will win more games than he loses but actions speak louder than words.
