Rangers have confirmed that the club will have a different retailer on their jerseys from next season as the initial deal with Castore rolls to a close.

But the Manchester-based retailer will still have sizeable influence over the retail operations at Ibrox due to a link-up they have with Rangers’ latest kit manufacturers.

Reports had suggested that Umbro would be Rangers’ new kit retailer ahead of next season and this has now been confirmed by Patrick Stewart.

Speaking at the CEO Fans Forum, Stewart told Rangers fans that Umbro will produce next season’s kits in line with Castore, who have the license to produce the retailer’s products in the UK.

But the situation hasn’t exactly inspired Rangers fans, who’ve been reacting to the news online after news of Stewart’s comments broke in the press.

Rangers fans react to Umbro x Castore kit deal news

Reacting on social media platform X, Rangers fans have been giving their two cents about the Umbro news and it hasn’t exactly gone down well.

Whilst there are plenty of fans describing the move as ‘garbage’ or complaining, there are others who are genuinely excited by the concept.

Umbro have a long history of producing Rangers jerseys and one fan says that he has ‘no problem’ with the retailer renewing that partnership.

Another has said that he hopes for some ‘re-releases’ of the Umbro training tops from the 80s and 90s at Ibrox.

One fan has rejected the call for Nike and Adidas ‘templates’ and hailed Rangers for the originality of the deal.

Calls for either of the two major retailers dominate the discussion online, with fans eager to see Rangers return to Adidas or Nike in the years to come.

Umbro x Castore Rangers kit leak kicks off new era at Ibrox

Rangers signed a landmark deal with Castore back in 2020 after years of tumultuous boardroom dealings which suffocated the club’s retail operations.

That continued into the reign of the retailer, with Rangers ending years of traumatic retail battles by settling with Hummel and Elite last summer.

This was after Rangers had doled out around £6m to finally shake free the influence of Mike Ashley at Ibrox.

It’s a time of sweeping change at Ibrox, with Rangers confirming US takeover interest as they look to end Celtic’s dominance in Scottish football.

Rangers have also confirmed Kevin Thelwell will be the new Ibrox Sporting Director as the club look to rebuild their squad ahead of the new season.

As for the Castore/Umbro kit deal, there’s already been one leak online and we’ll let you make your own mind up when it comes to this latest offering.
