Borussia Dortmund skipper Marco Reus has called on his teammates to do three specific things against Rangers [Borussia Dortmund Twitter].
The two sides are facing off tonight in the second leg of their Europa League knockout round playoff tie at a sold-out Ibrox.
Gio van Bronckhorst’s men carry a two-goal lead into the fixture following their stunning 4-2 triumph in Dortmund last week.
The visitors are also without a number of first-team players, including Erling Haaland.
However, the Gers slipped up at Dundee United in the Premiership at the weekend, while BVB hammered Borussia Monchengladbach 6-0 in the Bundesliga.
Experienced captain Reus was instrumental to that win, scoring twice and notching three assists in a remarkable individual display.
And he certainly hasn’t given up hope of making it to the Europa League Last 16.
Speaking during BVB’s press conference on Wednesday evening, the Germany international demanded three things from his teammates as they look to turn the tie around.
“We need aggressiveness, we need to be brave and [we need to] run,” he said [Borussia Dortmund Twitter].
“With 50,000 fans, a hot atmosphere awaits us. We have to play our game.”
BVB certainly weren’t aggressive enough on their own patch last week, with Rangers rampant at times during the game.
Marco Rose’s side will almost certainly be better this time around and Reus is a key threat, particularly in the absence of Haaland and Gio Reyna.
But overcoming the famous Ibrox atmosphere is easier said than done and the Rangers players will also be highly motivated, knowing that they are just 90 minutes away from an historic triumph.
It should be a cracker under the lights in Govan.
