Rangers predicted XI v Dortmund as trust put in Amad Diallo

Rangers v Borussia Dortmund is as mouthwatering a tie on paper as it promises to be at Ibrox – even before the Gers took a 4-2 lead into the second leg.

Ever since the draw was made Rangers fans have been revelling in the opportunity to welcome the Bundesliga giants to Glasgow and the fact they’re holding a lead from the first 90 minutes adds to the intensity.

Rangers have been a force to be reckoned with at times on Europa League duty in recent seasons and of all the big results in the competition the result v Dortmund stands as the biggest.

But whilst the Rangers fans had a huge night in Germany, they’ll be looking for an even bigger one in Glasgow.

The tournament favourites heading into the match, if Rangers can get past Dortmund it sends a genuine message of fearlessness to the rest of the competition.

Who starts for Rangers v Borussia Dortmund at Ibrox?

The question for the support will be which members of their squad will be charged with delivering one of the most famous results in the club’s history.

We expect Giovanni van Bronckhorst to stick with manager Allan McGregor amid suspicions the keeper is being targeted by opposition, particularly at corners.

With Leon Balogun’s return from injury softening the blow of losing Aaron Ramsey, the Nigerian is expected to start alongside Connor Goldson and the big dilemma is at left-back.

Captain James Tavernier is set to start at right-back with Calvin Bassey being tipped to start in front of an out-of-form Borna Barisic despite an improved performance in Germany.

In midfield, we suspect Ryan Jack and John Lundstram to continue with Joe Aribo in front of them, with the front three set to be explosive one at Ibrox.

Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos will start on the left and through the centre, with somewhat under-fire Amad Diallo being tipped to offer pace over Scott Arfield on the right.

The biggest news coming out of Borussia Dortmund surrounds Erling Braut Haaland, who never travelled with the German side to Glasgow for the game.
