Malik Tillman thanks “amazing” Rangers fans as Ibrox chant goes viral

Rangers midfielder Malik Tillman has thanked the “amazing” Ibrox support as clips of a Gers fan chant for the player go viral online.

The USA international, 20, has impressed since his loan switch from the German champions with everyone at Ibrox very clear they’d love to make the deal permanent.

Michael Beale has mentioned that option-to-buy – reported to be around £5m – whilst the player’s recent form has began to convince any detractors within the support who were turned off by a perceived lack of effort on the field.

Still a young player and really in his first full season as a regular in men’s football, Malik Tillman already has seven goals to his name and it’s clear Rangers fans have a new favourite as the player’s chant rings out around Ibrox.

The song is to the tune of 1970s rock classic Magic by Pilot and goes as follows:

“Ohhh it’s Malik, you know,

“Give him the ball and he’ll score”

Clips of Gers fans singing for Malik Tillman have also gone semi-viral online, with USA fan pages picking up the clips for a player many believed should’ve gone to the World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking about the chant, Malik Tillman thanked the Rangers support and claimed his focus is on performing for the team.

“It’s amazing to always have these fans at your back, I appreciate it and I love it,” said Malik Tillman.

“I came here to help the team score goals and assist goals. That’s what I can do, that’s what I like to do. It’s just the way I play.

“I do want to score so it suits the way I want to play and the coach wants the team to play. But the most important thing is the team’s success. I’m glad that I was able to help and that we got three points in both of the games.”

As the Malik Tillman chant rings around Ibrox, Rangers fans group the Union Bears have another new ditty of their own.
