Malik Tillman hasn’t lost a single league game since leaving Rangers

Rangers saw Malik Tillman leave Ibrox over the summer and he is now playing a key role for a title-chasing PSV Eindhoven side.

Rangers seemed to have made a great move by signing Malik Tillman on loan from Bayern Munich in 2022.

The American came in as a highly-regarded attacking talent with real potential.

There was even the option of a permanent move, leaving Rangers fans thinking about the kind of impact Tillman could make for years to come.

Tillman divided opinion though; some recognised his talent and promise, others felt that he was a little lethargic and could have offered more.

There were differing verdicts on what happened next; some reports suggested that Bayern paid £1million plus a 10% sell-on clause in order to cancel the permanent option.

Michael Beale instead claimed that Rangers did agree to buy Tillman but Bayern immediately activated their buy-back clause.

Either way, Tillman’s time at Rangers was brought to an end in confusing circumstances.

Malik Tillman top of the league with PSV Eindhoven

Tillman was moved on elsewhere, joining PSV Eindhoven on loan with a view to a permanent move worth up to €14million (£12million).

Tillman helped PSV into the Champions League group stage at Rangers’ expense, but there have been some bumps in the road too.

The 21-year-old overslept in September and was subsequently dropped for a PSV win over Almere City.

Tillman has really hit form since then though, notching four goals and two assists in his last nine appearances.

Tillman scored in Sunday’s 4-0 win over PEC Zwolle with PSV now top of the Eredivsie table with 12 wins from 12 games.

PSV’s record is frankly ridiculous; 45 goals scored and just five conceded, already seven points clear of last season’s champions Feyenoord.

Tillman is playing his part for PSV, with fans possibly already dreaming of an invincible season.

Tillman still keeping tabs on Rangers

Despite leaving Rangers in slightly bizarre fashion, Tillman is still keeping tabs on the Gers.

Tillman sent a message to James Tavernier earlier this month, praising the Gers captain after his free kick against Hearts at Hampden Park.

Who knows, maybe PSV won’t sign Tillman permanently and the possibility of a return to Rangers will open up next summer.

That looks unlikely right now but Tillman clearly still holds Rangers close to his heart and may well be open to coming back to Ibrox in the future.
