Lyall Cameron has been told the three traits he has that makes him ready for his Rangers move.

The Dundee midfielder signed a pre-contract at Ibrox on deadline day and was immediately told by manager Philippe Clement that he had wished to sign him last year.

That was a glowing report from the boss and the 22-year-old has also been told he will “relish” the challenge of becoming a Gers player.

Until the summer, though, Cameron remains a Dundee player and he played a significant part in his side’s 4-0 victory over Airdrieonians in this afternoon’s Scottish Cup tie.

The playmaker hit a brace and that had his current gaffer, Tony Docherty, waxing lyrical.

The former Aberdeen and Kilmarnock assistant had been adamant in January that he did not want to lose Cameron and matches like todays proves exactly why.

Now that it is a deal in the bag for Rangers, however, Docherty has told his player just what he likes about his game and how he feels he can succeed in Glasgow.

Cameron is ambitious, as the move would suggest, and Docherty reckons he also has other qualities that will serve him well with the Light Blues.

What Tony Docherty said about Rangers-bound Lyall Cameron

“Lyall is fully committed to this football club and you can see that by the reaction he got from the fans when he came off,” Docherty said at full-time.

“He got his two goals and I just took him off because we are nursing that Achilles injury. Every objective we have at this football club, Lyall Cameron is a massive part of it.

“He has real high standards and is a really ambitious young man. He is really talented and we use that.

“There are more chances of winning matches with Lyall Cameron in our team.

“Not just because of his ability but also his mentality and his attitude, which has served him well. It will also serve Dundee well between now and the end of the season.”
